How it works, step by step

  • 1. Private consultation. We discuss your ideas, sketch the design together, take your measurements and choose fabrics. Bring photos, links, swatches or your own fabric; anything that helps us see what you see.
  • 2. Making. Your gown is cut and made by hand in the atelier. Payment is made in stages across the process rather than in one sum.
  • 3. Fittings. The gown is refined on your body over fittings arranged around your schedule. This is where the personal details are chosen: the lining, a monogram, the small decisions that make the piece yours.
  • 4. Delivery. Your finished piece is handed over ready for the day. Any workmanship issue reported within 48 hours of delivery is put right.

Timing: plan ahead for bridal

Most pieces at The Art of Tailoring are ready in about ten days, depending on your availability for fittings, and we are flexible around your schedule. Fabrics sourced from abroad or detailed hand-beading can take a little longer: a bodice worked in hand-beading, or crystals placed one by one along a train, takes the time it takes, and that time cannot be compressed without showing in the finish.

We suggest contacting us as soon as your date is set, particularly if you are also planning an engagement dress, a reception look or bridesmaid dresses. Designing the full wardrobe together keeps it coherent and the fittings unhurried.

Fabrics and handwork

We work in silks, lace, velvet, wool, linen, cotton and leather, chosen with you at the consultation for how they fall, how they hold a shape and how they wear through a long evening.

Hand embellishment is the atelier's speciality. Hand-beading, crystals, pearls and embroidery are applied by hand by our artisans, placed where they catch the light as you move.

For heirloom transformations, we begin with the original dress and decide with you what to keep: the lace, the beadwork, the line of a sleeve.

For international brides

If you are planning a wedding in Dubai from abroad, we begin with a video consultation. We discuss the design, the fabrics and your timeline, so the direction is agreed before you travel, and your fittings take place at the atelier once you are in Dubai.
